Culture

This town has its traditions and culture and has made many cultural activities in the country and abroad.

The main activities are as follow:

On 1932 Kukes takes part at the first national artistic works exhibition and takes the second place (silver prize awarded)

On 1986 takes the first place at national exhibition of the Albanian Republic for the traditional drapery of Shkodra cultural materials. 

The folk groups of Kukes started to debute with national activities since 1949 in which were showed the ethnography and cultural wealth of this area with melodies,instruments,vestures,traditions and songs.

On 1951 was built the Cultural Hall of this town.From that time has started exhibitions,researches,studies and propagandas of cultural values.

On 1953 was organized the first folkloric festival of the country.From that time such festivals are organized periodically.

At a special way  Kukes is honored with many awards and prizes in folkloric national festivals of the years 1973-1978-1983.A part of ethno values continue to be saved and are used at familiar and social events.
